WiFi, Hubs, & POE

There has to be a brain to help manage all the connections and make sure they happen quickly. Having a strong internet connection is important because it powers the wireless part of your smart home devices. Once WiFi is established, a hub is used to “corral” all devices. A hub is usually hard-wired via ethernet cable to ensure a strong connection. To reach different parts of your house you can set up devices like a Power Over Ethernet (POE) that helps transmit a hard-wired connection to another device over your home’s power.
